Sunday May 10, 2009 - London, England

Sunday May 10, 2009
Hello London, England.

This is my first time ever in London, England.
This is me at 6:00am in London, which is about midnight-1am in Ottawa.

This is my first glimpse of the Underground railway system called "The Tube"

When you go on the Tube, you hear an automatic voice say "Mind the Gap" in the British Accent. Hilarious!! so I had to take a picture ;)

This is me at 6:00am on The Tube heading to my hotel in London, England.

I got zero sleep on the plane, so I look a little excited to be off the plane and in London!

...even though I'm way past over tired.

Here are some fabulous fellow Contiki travellers that I met on the Tube heading to the same hotel I was staying at!

Jessica and Cassie!! adorable girls!

Both from Saskatchewan! :) and both were just as exhausted as I was! This is outside the Tube station where I hotel was...

They did not go on the same tour that I was on, but they were on a budget tour as well - I think the 29 day tour?

This is Tim and Carrie. Also fellow Contiki mates. These boys were from Australia and had fabulous accents ;)
They were going on a three-weel tour with Contiki!
All of us were brand new contiki travellers. Exausted but really excited!

Russell Square is where our hotel was located.

The Royal National Hotel is where I stayed in my duration in London.
My trip was starting in London, but you don't see much of London. So I decided to take a few days and explore London!

The Royal Nation is a great hotel. I highly recommend it for anyone travelling in the UK. Its a little pricey, but its well worth it!

It's also where the Contiki Basement is located, where lots of young travellers go and start their trips :)

Hop-On/Hop-Off London Original tours!

One of my options for my London Explorer package with Contiki. Its an excellent way to view London. It's a little more expensive than going on the Tube to every tourist place. But the bus company offers a tour guide and its fun! A Double decker bus in London, England.

I had a great time!

Also, its handy for those who don't like to walk for hours on end, it is useful! :)

This is me for the first time on The Original Bus Tour in London, England.
it's probably close to 9-10am here. I'm way past over-tired. I'm so excited to finally be in London!

oh - what people have said that London is cold, dreary and rain all the time = All lies.
The weather on the first day was verrry windy, but very sunny and even a little warm :)
I even got some colour!! Europe tanning, here I come :)

I never found out what this place was called. I'm assuming it is a apartment building, hotel, or it might even me a museum. This is pretty close to my hotel in Russel Square. It might actually be The British Museum

** If you haven't read my blog on Pre-Travel tips, I suggest you go and do so;) I highly recommend buying a little notepad, and jotting down places names and dates - so much easier to blog/scrapbook about! ;) **

This is Jessica and Cassie on the hop-on/hop-off bus! Looking at the very handy maps of London!

You can spend 5 years in London and still not have a chance to see everything.

We were trying to see as much as possible in one day! not an easy task ;)

Michael Jackson "This is it" Show.

Advertisments were everywhere!

MJ fever was very much in affect!

I would have sold my soul to see him Live!

RIP MJ.

Again; this is why it is very handy to jot down names of places, especially the hundreds of thousands of museums, monuments, churches, etc.

I believe this is the Queens Stables in London, England.

This was one of the tour guides on the Hop-On/Hop-Off Original London Bus tour company!
He was a true Brit - sarcastic, dry-humour, very british accent! hilarious! I very much enjoyed his tour guide skills!
we rode on his bus until we reached Buckingham Palace!
